My wedding day was- as the cliché goes- the BEST day of my life. A big part of that was getting the music and entertainment just right.
Your wedding day is one of the most special moments of your life, and finding the right singer can set the perfect atmosphere. Whether you’re looking for romantic ballads as you walk down the aisle, during the ceremony, your first dance or lively entertainment for the reception, here are seven key things to consider when choosing a wedding singer.

1. Style & Genre
Think about the type of music that best fits your wedding theme. Do you want a soulful singer, a jazz vocalist, or someone who can belt out pop classics? Make sure their style aligns with your vision.
2. Experience & Professionalism
A seasoned wedding singer will know how to handle different parts of the event, from an emotional ceremony to a high-energy set later in the evening. Check our their professional experience to see their versatility/ability to adapt to various different styles and settings.
3. Live Performance & Samples
Always ask for live performance videos, demos, or attend one of their gigs if possible. Most professional vocalists will have a vocal reel you can take a look at. This will help you assess their vocal ability, stage presence, and how they engage with an audience.
4. Repertoire & Song Requests
Does the singer have a song list that matches your taste? Can they learn special requests for key moments like the first dance or the aisle walk? Ensure they’re flexible with your must-have songs so you can set the perfect soundtrack for your special day!
5. Equipment & Setup
Find out whether they provide their own sound equipment or if they need the venue to supply it. Some singers (like me!) come fully prepared with their own PAT tested PA system, which is a huge plus.
6. Budget & Packages
Wedding singers offer different pricing packages depending on their experience, length of performance, travel, and any special requests. Have a clear understanding of what you want, as well as an awareness of typical rates to ensure your budget aligns with your desired package.
7. Reviews & Testimonials
Past client feedback can be invaluable. Look for reviews and testimonials to get a sense of their reliability, professionalism, and performance quality.
